(151,337 posts)56. I hesitate to create definitions. It's not really my
specialty. For me, though, bigotry is basically a dislike or hatred for people who are part of some definable group, typically a group that one is part of not necessarily by choice in most cases. It is based on some general view of that group as undesirable or detestable, but without any logical or demonstrable reason.
I believe that bigotry is illogical and often something expressed without any real thought at all.
I hope that helps, but I'm sure there are gaping holes in my definition.
