And, frankly, the response is pretty much the same that has been given for years to members of DU who have complained about misogyny - including explicit rape threats - on DU: Misogyny is being handled by the jury system, our hands are tied as to the threats, and we can't keep trolls out - but we can ban them once they are identified.

The first is a joke, and I'm not convinced as to the second since the admins have access to IP addresses. As to the third - that is correct for new trolls and trolls who use multiple IP addresses, and some innovations have been employed on both sites to pre-emptively ban repeat dumb trolls.

Bottom line - people who are calling for the destruction of the discussionist board because of how these rape threats were handled should also be calling for the destruction of DU, for the same reasons.
