(61,894 posts)It isn't a black and white thing - there is much grey to consider on this - since it is not just about GMO and food, but long term effects, impact on pollinators, impact on seed saving for those who wish to maintain open pollinated crops, control of our seed heritage. And that is not even considering the economic/monopoly aspects of it all.
The first GMO food was the Flavr Savr tomato in 1994, which wasn't widely consumed (no flavor difference, just faded into oblivion). Long term consumption health studies therefore really cannot have happened.
