71. If someone's life is threatened, and only if so, I recommend trying this guy's techniques

The situation with the jogging fed agent was different but anyone's first actions should be to demand assistance from anyone else in the area. Make specific demands of onlookers -- "You, red shirt, call 911 now!"

A parallel course of action, if available, is to flee the attacker, running to an area where others can see what is going on. In NYC if you are assaulted many people run into the street, stop traffic, demand that a cab driver call 911.

But if you can't flee and are not within ear shot of potential help I would give some of this guy's techiques one's best shot. Adrenaline can make you lightning fast and incredibly focused but you have to have a mental image of what to do. Punching can break your hand but this guy's cupped hand ear drum bust will put most people into so much pain they will passout or otherwise be unable to continue.
