We're talking about a long-time Republican of the pure greed variety, as stated explicitly in in interviews.

Her stock-in-trade was denigrating the appearance of women, like we needed more of that. Thanks for the trailblazing Joan.

The pure hate she directed at Palestinians, TWICE, to two different interviewers, was not part of any comedy routine (not that in would have been OK even if it were, IMO). It is actually sickening to hear someone try to trivialize it.

Her mind was not going - she was perfectly sharp and doing her usual comedy stuff right up till her ill-fated surgery.

I don't know about the others you mentioned but Jim Norton is a disgusting asshole and the things he says are NOT okay. And if he drops dead tomorrow, he will still have been an asshole. See also: Bill Maher. I am not judging Joan Rivers any differently.
