are one of the first steps in a lot of races. I had a friend bounced from a Suffolk race because as an attorney, she spent one of the prior 7 years living in pennsylvania while she worked on a case. She never changed her residency, but the appellate judges in NY were mostly Republicans who upheld the challenge to her residency.

Some states make it too easy for carpetbaggers, NY makes it too easy for folks looking to bounce you from the race to accuse you of not living where you do.
