Just look at Augusta National - who only started accepting black members a few years ago. The crying orange congresscritter belongs to a course that doesn't allow women members (and why that never got more press just irritates the shit out of me).
I am merely trying to explain that not everything deserves a label by default because of the characteristics of the person affected by it.
Years ago I used to use the explanation of this phenomenon (and how it weakens an important message) by saying "lost a quarter in a pay phone", but when was the last time you saw a pay phone? I likened it to the argument of losing the quarter means the phone company was sexist, racist, or (insert religion)-phobic. When you cry wolf, people stop listening and the message is weakened even further.
Some times there are reasons why things happen that have nothing to do with someones gender, race, religion, orientation, etc...
