(19,926 posts)What if for us to do is elect someone who will fight for us. Really. Not just someone who says they will or someone who will crap on us less than the other person from the other party. And then it's up to us to make the govt do what is good for us.
But remember, with Sanders we would have him always on fire, fighting for us. If he got elected and had the momentum and mandate that Obama had he wouldn't squander it away playing nice with the GOP and giving them what they ask for before they even started negotiating. The GOP isn't as powerful as some thing they are, they are being enabled by the current admin and Dem leaders.
Then we have to not be complacent once we get them elected. Look at how everyone was relieved when Obama got elected and sat back and trusted that he was doing the right thing. Well he didn't do the right thing on so many issues.
As a whole Americans are disengaged in the very process that determines their quality of life.
Most politicians are snake oil salespersons. They say what you want to hear then change their tune once they are elected. It's happened with every recent president. Sanders is the real deal. He's not going to let himself be pushed around by the GOP - or the Dems - he will fight to do the people's work. He's not going to go to the table with a compromised position to start with so that the outcome is more favorable to the GOP than to the people, he's going to go to the table asking for what we want and need.
Who do you really think is going to be able to go in there and accomplish what we need them to? Who is not just words until they are in office? Sanders has the track record to prove he's not just blowing smoke, he means what he says. That puts him so far out in front of the pack it's actually a sad commentary on politics in the USA.
