(13,990 posts)"1. When you ask your server for your check, they ask you if you want dessert as if you didn't just answer their question already." Answer, because if the server did not do that, the manager might fire her/him.
"2. When your server leaves BEFORE you get a CHANCE to ask for everything you want and/or only ask ONE person, not EVERYONE if they need something? " Because the owner probably under hired staff and is running them ragged.
"3. When your server doesn't do as you asked. You ask for a box, they bring you a bag. You ask for a to-go coke, they bring you an empty cup to pour your coke into." Again, said restaurant has a policy set, which is run by some person who never wanted to be a manager in a restaurant, but had to take the job, so they mindless say stuff like "we do not use boxes."
"4. Servers that decide everything for you without *ASKING YOUR PERMISSION FIRST BEFORE DOING THE THINGS*." because one of the main thing means customers get angry about is that they even had to ASK for things, and that is what fills the yelps of the world.
"5. Servers pour new iced tea into old iced tea that's watered down. If I wanted a glass of watery tea, I'd be home. It's not iced tea anymore if it's mostly water, is it? " And then said customer will complain "hey you took my tea away"
I did consider doing the full 44 page mess, but honestly, that would be stopping to her level. I will say this...most of the time, the servers are doing what the managers are telling them, and the manager does not give a damned about tips, because he/she knows that they can steal them from the worker regardless. Said manager has to answer to the owner, who many times is someone who has no clue or care about the restaurant business, but just had some money to burn, but yet will gladly oppress everyone just to save 5 cents. And the whole mess is kept up by people who think that they have a right to be RUDE, because the way America hides that fact that people are working class is to let them play at aristocrats for an hour at a restaurant, where a bunch of retirees and young spoiled punks get to oppress people who in many cases, are paid far less than Minimum wage, and have whatever tips they make stolen.
Enjoy your damn dinner. Don't be surprised if your retirement plan flops, and you wind up working it the places you used to treat people bad at.
