Idiot in this case can be defined as "a completely uninformed person who, vastly overestimating their knowledge of something and overall intelligence, refuses to educate themselves even a little bit despite an overwhelming ability and ease to do so."

Every comment Carlson makes proves further how misinformed he is, and yet he is totally clueless to this fact.
