(62,325 posts)about. Someone like Bernie would get support across the political spectrum from what I am hearing from people in RL, both Dems and Repubs.
He is an Independent and should remain so. The biggest voting bloc in the country now IS Independent as more and more voters are becoming Independents. I believe the last poll I saw stated that only 29% are Repubs and only 32 are Dems with the numbers dropping all the time.
He seems to be aware of that as he stated that a majority of voters don't vote, see the 2010 election where Independents stayed home after coming out in large numbers in 2008. Those are thinking people who won't vote for anyone who has demonstrated they are not working for them.
OWS was a result of the increasing disgust with both parties by the people. And it was scary for those in control to see how swiftly the idea of non-party affiliation spread across the country, making it necessary to quash them.
Maybe we are going through one of those historical political shifts and someone like Bernie is there to take advantage of it. I hope so. I could cheerfully support this many who has demonstrated his intelligence, independence and ability to do what is best for those who elected him.
