4. There's always the "Yeah, but that's abuse not spanking!" dodge, too.

Of course one of the reasons it's so hard to stop kids being abused is because so many people are so quick to defend hitting kids in the first place.

I'm sort of curious if there's anyone that was abused that weren't told that it was their parent's right to discipline them however they saw fit. I certainly heard it, and everyone I know that's acknowledged they were physically abused as a child heard it when they tried to get help. Help that never came for anyone I know because a parent should be allowed to discipline their child however they see fit.
