8. I have worked at my job for almost 30 years...getting ready to retire

I had 3 children while working, I get paid a decent wage, and without bragging too much am an integral part of this machine and have been approached several times over that I should reconsider retiring and stay on to bump up that retirement package.

So mine is one example where the justification for different pay scales falls flat on it's face. I should be paid less because I may have children? Really? I am one of millions that work through pregnancy and return to work after having a child. I'm not special.

There are definitely jobs out there fit for part timers, school kids and people who do NOT want to make long term committements to any employer, but that has NOTHING to do with gender. Those jobs are likely never going to be high paying and are likley fairly equally applied via gender.

But back to my scenario, perhpas "they" could explain one more time how birthing children is a detriment that requires lesser wages for the rest of my life?
