8. The difference in reactions was disturbing

Clearly, the male was seen as deserving of his fate and his abuse amused people. His symbolic emasculation at the hand of a woman maybe?

I thought it was striking how the women tried to defuse the situation when another woman was attacked. Men seemed not to know what to do with the exception of the one African American guy who joined in and slapped the dude playfully then followed watching the event. Did the men fail to react for fear of further "embarrassing" the guy?
