Let me know what you think and still I need a good title for the subject field.

Dear Chief Coppinger,

I just watched a video that included several of your officers involved in a multitude of illegal activities including assault with a vehicle, failure to wear a seat-belt, expired tags, failure to submit a police report after damaging public property, failure to stop after hitting someone with a vehicle, failure to provide officer name and badge number upon request and intimidation of a witness.

These may not seem like a big deal to the officers involved, but I assure you that to the public they are a very big deal. We expect police officers to be held to an even higher standard of the law than we are and yet your department seems to think they are exempt from laws. It is vital to the American system of justice that people be able to trust our officers.

If officers themselves feel free to break laws, there is no longer any reason to trust them. In light of the fact that they are given the power to arrest and possess weapons, public trust is imperative. Without that earned trust, officers are more dangerous to the public than any street thug, gang, mafia member or terrorist since most of us are more likely to have an encounter with an officer than any of the others and they wield significantly more power.

Please view the extremely well presented video yourself and ensure that your officers understand that they too must respect laws.
