In reply to the discussion: Information For People Who Are Clueless About Social Security Claims [View all]stewert
(3,509 posts)23. Downwinder............
As far as I know I am trying to get SSI, that is for people who have not worked and do not have any current work credits. I have been trying to get social security disability since roughly 2000, and I also tried to get it right after I quit my job in 1995, but I was denied.
As of today I do not have any work credits, so I believe they filed for SSI, which anyone can get, even if they have never worked a job in their life. Even though I worked for 17 years I am no longer qualified to get social security disability.
I am on medicaid, and food stamps, and I go to the free clinic for health care.
