about once every ten years or so. I haven't had to get them removed in over 16 years now, so no hospital stays 
And yes, the first time I had them, I was indeed rolling on the floor in pain (and scared because I had no idea what was going on internally.)
I saw your posts in the LBN thread about the Crackerbarrel shooting. I'm glad you made it through your own abusive experience! My wife left me about seven years ago, but we never had any problems beyond a handful of arguments. We're still friends, just not compatible as a couple (reasons I won't go into here.)
So, while my imagination can take me into your description, I have no personal experience with anything even approaching physical abuse. It's as alien to me as voting republican! I hope you have a nice, stable relationship and life for the rest of your days!
