8. I understand the packing of the districts

But Texas keeps electing doorknobs like Rick Perry in state-wide contests. I have heard over the years how Texas is trending Democratic, and I really want it to be true. But winning offices, not losing 52-48 when Democrats used to lose 55-45, is the measure of the trend. If Wendy Davis wins the governorship, I'll be as heartened as anyone. Davis, a credible candidate, is trailing yet another doorknob by double digits. That can't be explained by district rigging.
