In reply to the discussion: ‘Black Bachelorette’ Dr. Misee Harris Forced To Resign Dent. Practice For M. Brown Support [View all]locdlib
(176 posts)Just a little note to say thank you for how you dealt with Dr. Misee Harris. She certainly proved to everyone what type of person she is.
Although Dr. Harris provided excellent dental care to the patients that she was charged with caring for, having views on racial relations in this country that may conflict with others in the practice is what really matters. Especially if those views are not flush with her colleagues. It should not even matter that Dr. Harris had performed in such a manner that she was going to be made a partner. What is of the utmost importance is that she voiced her opinions on her PRIVATE Facebook page about what is happening in Ferguson, Missouri. Ferguson, Missouri is the place where Michael Brown, a young male whose skin color would suggest that he was of African ancestry, was murdered by police officer Darren Wilson. Michael and his friend were accused by Wilson of "jaywalking." Certainly, this is an offense that requires extreme police brutality. The aftermath of Darren Wilson's murder of Michael Brown has resulted in absolutely disastrous events in Ferguson. Protestors were subjected to military-type scare tactics to "keep them in line." Now, I know that when certain people do certain things, it is felt by some that extreme force must be instituted. It doesn't matter that those certain people were within their legal rights. The bottom line was that "they" needed to be shown "their place." And if they get out of "their place," the result could be murder.
Yes, Dr. Harris certainly proved herself to be a professional whose work was exemplary enough for her to be considered being made a partner. She also proved herself to be someone who speaks out against social injustice. My guess is that she would stand up for the rights of others, no matter their skin color.
"Dr. Hutton enjoys hiking, skiing, and serving as a volunteer Boy Scout Leader with Troop 154. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Zion Christian Academy. Dr. Hutton is married and has two sons."
"Dr. Sims enjoys running, scuba diving, water and snow skiing. He is also involved with choral music at church."
Dr. Hutton and Dr. Harris sound like upstanding citizens of their community. Church-goers usually do sound like good people. They, like Dr. Harris, proved to everyone what type of people they really are.
I can certainly say that when people tell me who they really are, I always believe them. I will definitely keep in mind who Dr. Harris is, and who the other members of Children's Dental Columbia really are when my children need dental care. I will also be passing that information along to my many friends, family members, and colleagues.
Again, many thanks to you.
