According to Ted's own words, he did what he did not out of conscience but because going to Vietnam would have interfered with his rock and roll lifestyle.

Ted Nugent is extremely anti-substance. Doesn't smoke tobacco, drink alcohol or ingest illegal substances. Ya gotta wonder how he would have turned out if he'd had a couple beers and a joint every day during his formative years.
