The space station that Stanley Kubrick wrote about in 1979 he envisioned for 2001, this is the reason why, in 2014, the space station is just a spindly mess of canisters and panels that America can not even get to anymore.

Maybe if America strung together a chain of F35's and pointed them upwards?
