It has been several decades that most households have had to have both husband and wife working full-time to maintain a middle class lifestyle.

That is nothing new and didn't start with Obama.

Ever heard of Reagan busting PATCO, the air traffic controllers union?

That started the decline of unionism (which played a huge part in creating the middle class) and began the failed trickle-down economic policies and the slow, decades long decline of the US economy, save for the booming Clinton years.
