I lost my mother a month ago. She had a wonderful life and lived to be 95 years old. Lucid until the last two hours of her life. I think one of the reasons she lived a long life is that she adapted to changes....even the death of my father in '02. However, the last two years when she lost more and more friends, many, of course, younger than she, I could tell those loses were becoming insurmountable for her. I have thought a lot about this and have concluded that close relationships are what keeps us propped up in life and make life more enjoyable. You are right,,,,we need to remember who we have in our lives...they are staples and we need them as much as air and water.
