39. I was a nurse's aide, and then an RN.

I have 5 bad disks in my back, two bad knees, one bad ankle, and one bad hip. I was retired until this year. I had to go back to work, as my husband lost his job due to the recession and hasn't been able to find another.

Now we run a restaurant together. In spite of working 14-hour days on my feet, lifting 5 gallon kettles of soup, it's a lot easier than anything in the nursing field.

Being a housewife is a piece of cake. Women with jobs have to do everything housewives do, after putting in 8-10 hours in the salt mines.
