Ebola Area Flights to the US - Where They Go First [View all]
They're not the usual flights most people take, especially these days, but the three African nations most afflicted with Ebola outbreaks still have daily flights out and away to other destinations. You won't find direct flights to the United States, though. Most flights make at least one stop before showing up here. Here's a rundown of where the planes stop after leaving the three countries where Ebola is running rampant. I've chosen JFK as the US destination in finding these flights, so if that's not where you're going, you may change planes there, too:
Guinea
If you want to fly from Conakry, Guinea, the country's capital, to the US, you'll have to connect in either Paris or Casablanca to get here.
Liberia
If you're booking a flight from Monrovia, Liberia, you'll stop in Brussels or Casablanca and change planes to US destinations.
Sierra Leone
Flying from Freetown, the capital, you'll be landing once in Brussels or Casablanca to make your connection to your destination.
Nigeria
If your route is from Abuja, Nigeria to JFK, you'll have to stop in London, Paris or Frankfurt before reaching the US. Flying from Lagos, Nigeria, you may have other options, including a direct, non-stop flight to NYC, Atlanta or Houston. There may be other direct flights to the US from Lagos, as well.
If your destination is in Europe, you'll make the same stops before continuing your journey. As a side note, it's cheaper to go from Nigeria than from the other three airports, so you might want to fly there first from the other three. It's a long, long flight, too, no matter what route you take.
