This does illustrate one of the most basic and profound differences between conservatives and liberals and libertarians, after all.
The basic conservative orientation that requires conservatives to protect community above personal freedom (as well as their concomitant fondness for conformity) causes them to link off-norm vulgarity with immorality and call for the community to be protected.
Libs of both types value personal liberties above obedience and conformity and, thus, tend to feel vulgarity is a matter of personal style and draw the moral line where one man's vulgarity intersects another's nose. If mine started bleeding, I would also either complain or block the poster, depending.
Of course, orientations come in all mixes. Thank goodness from a lib - keeps us from getting intolerably predictable. The problem is that well-organized conservatives have succeeded in convincing much of the nation that the value of imposing their preferences on others outweighs personal freedom. A fucking big reason for kicking that particular bucket, IMO. We need to re-desensitize from the effects of that pernicious, prissy social conservative oppression.
