(68,283 posts)21. I travelled back and forth form CT to TX when my mother was failing...
it was important to me to try to be with her at her last moment. I pretty much succeeded, being with her at the very end when she fell into a coma and never came out. I had to leave and go to rest, but she passed about an hour after I left. I got a phone call, dressed and came immediately to her side and was able to kiss her before the funeral home came to take her away.
The strange thing I noticed was that she was "not there" when I came to see her (only a few minutes from the hospital). She was a shell of herself. It was odd...I will never forget that moment with her...
