... was a white knuckle experience. Traveling from Virginia to Ohio, I had to exit the interstate at Sam Black Church and travel through the mountains and Rainelle. After about 60 miles of driving a course that would make a modern roller coaster seem like a snooze I'd finally come down from the mountains just south of Charleston. I don't miss those winter drives on the backroads -- I think they took about 20 years off my life. Gorgeous country but I sure as hell wouldn't want to be stuck there in winter.
