I've been making the point for years, that we need to open some "government" financed child-care agencies, and make Welfare into Workfare. Obviously it isn't going to work leaving kids at home, or with an inattentive relative if you've got one, or any sort of inconsistent child care. I remember a story a few years back, I think in one of Moore's movies, where a woman's child was dropped off with an uncle, so she could ride a bus to work 50 miles away. The child found a gun, and shot himself accidentally.

And you can hire people doing it that don't have jobs too, so it's win-win. A certain number of people who need jobs, can be hired to facilitate it, perhaps as transportation too. There is plenty of wealth in this country to make these things happen, if only we have the will to actually give people an equal chance, we're going to find some real jewels of employees out there.
