23. Not my story, thank goodness

My ex was a mensch even if he was a faithless alcoholic and supported me through nursing school, my ticket out. For my part, I took only the equity in the house and things he had no use for like my looms and fiber. I left him a furnished house full of small appliances, his power tools, and even art on the walls. I left him in great shape, in other words, while I started over from scratch.

However, I'd been told it was a bad idea to try to breed so I didn't. Dialysis at 30 sounded like a lousy time.
