My first service number was US56704XXX. Later, when I was commissioned after completing Infantry OCS at Ft. Benning, it was replaced with a new service number with an 'O' prefix denoting commissioned officer. After that, we changed to the SSN--so I had three service numbers in a period of 4-1/2 years.
