16. Wisconsin does have same-day registration

There has been no change in that for many years, although other voting procedures have been changed under Walker. Same-day registration is quite popular, and doing away with it would require starting a motor-voter program at a hefty cost.

Voters who need to register (new voters or those who moved or changed name since last voting) must bring along a current driver's license or state ID if they have one (the registration form needs the number and expiration date) or else use the last four digits of their social security number. They also must bring a document with their name and current address (utility bill, anything from a unit of government, or another item on the prescribed list).
