(46,179 posts)It seems like, from my perspective, you are missing the forest for a single tree.
Your concern for that single tree seems more personal than political. I understand that.
From my perspective, though, politics in the U.S. is a hell of a lot bigger than any president. I know that too much of the general public has a true misconception, fed by misleading propaganda from the media, that the POTUS, any POTUS, has much more power than he actually does. In the world of partisan propaganda, everything is either the POTUS' fault or he's personally responsible for anything good that happens...and that's simply not true, either way.
From my perspective, the POTUS fills a role as leader. Again, from my perspective, this POTUS has been a weak leader, and he often hasn't been leading anyone in the best direction. It's no surprise that he ends up alone, if you can call it that. He's thrown too many of those who would be there, supporting him, under the bus. He's lost the confidence of his natural supporters who aren't under that bus.
This situation was easily predictable. Those who should have held him accountable for being a better, stronger leader from the beginning of his administration spent their time, instead, defending him. Trying to pretend that so many missteps were something other than they were. Making excuses for him. Ignoring the growing crowd under the bus, or vilifying them, or marginalizing them. Now, as a lame duck, he doesn't have the support he should have earned earlier.
Current political events in the nation really are no longer about Obama, one way or the other. I'm sorry that's painful for some, but it's reality.
