In reply to the discussion: Amber Vinson is Ebola-Free. So much for the Panic Platoon. [View all]ecstatic

No hospital in this country is equipped to handle more than two ebola patients at a time. That includes our special biocontainment facilities. Also, we've yet to see an ebola survivor come out of a non-biocontainment hospital.
As little as 10 simultaneous cases in the US could quickly spiral out of control, since the special bio containment facilities in this country have a total of 9 beds (for ebola patients) combined. For some reason, people still aren't grasping this when smugly comparing ebola to the flu or gloating about how high ebola's survival rate is in this country. Of course the mortality rate (so far) is low- every surviving ebola patient has been treated at one of the 4 special biocontainment units in the country. But think about the quality of care people would receive if the cases were to ever exceed 10. We'd see a much lower survival rate.

You said that the protocols "worked" because the family members didn't get sick.

"Obamacare saved us from ebola" is the talking point. Gloating is unbecoming.

Having more people with access to doctors definitely lessens the threat of ebola and all
