8. I learned on a Schwinn Sting-Ray (banana seat), then a Typhoon, and then a Sprint.

They were all damn good bikes. My kids all have Schwinn's, but unfortunately they are made in China now. The welds are pretty pathetic but they hold together. The shifters are all Shimano and they work well.
