(40,416 posts)I took in a nuclear apocalypse marathon on Friday.
On the Beach -- Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire, Anthony Perkins.
Dr. Strangelove -- Mein Furher! I can walk!
Fail-Safe -- the live performed CBS remake of the 1962 film, damned good. (Richard Dreyfus, George Clooney, Harvey Keitel as Blackie, and a bunch of other good character actors, introduced by Walter Conkrite.) Appropriately broadcast in black and white.
The Day After -- another TV production. Jason Robards does okay in a rather soapy apocalypse.
Miracle Mile -- does anybody know where I can find a helicopter pilot? Pure camp with a Tangerine Dream soundtrack. The perfect end of a night of global death and mayhem.
Tonight I think I am going to watch Robert Wise's 1962 direction of The Haunting, one of the most cringe-worthy film ever made. "My god! Who was holding my hand?" A great cast, and it has Miss Moneypenny, too.
Have a spooky weekend, my friend.
