(54,294 posts)For the first time in nearly 20 years of voting in my small New Hampshire town, there was a line at the polls. I was encouraged. And then I overheard a conversation between 2 older people in front of me. They were talking about how wonderfully patriotic the Tea Party is, protecting the Constitution, yada, yada, yada. Then they talked up the nutbag running against Annie Kuster. I was rolling my eyes at this point, but had yet to utter a sound. Then the woman starts snickering about how even Democrats don't want Obama to campaign with them. BOOM! I snapped and told them in no uncertain terms they should have had him campaign with them because he has done plenty of things to be proud of and I began rattling them off. The old guy immediately starts yelling about he's a veteran and I don't know anything. To which I say, if he's a veteran he should be voting Democratic because Republicans always vote against benefits for veterans. At this point he began channeling Sean Hannity and muttering something about "triple dipping veterans" (whatever that is). My parting shot was "Obamacare saved my life" which startled him for a second until he managed to yell "good for you." At this point I realized there was a second line I could be in and moved. The stupidity has practically given me a migraine.
