Because

(1) Affordable health care act. Trying to interpret the tax effects on those who managed to sign up for it is crazy. Ditto for the unaffordability calculations for those that had no other options than Marketplace. Even one tax helper org that I volunteer for isn't ready to start training yet re 2014 returns.

AND

(2) "Who me? Isn't my seat safe? Why should I campaign to the unwashed masses?"

Answer: Always run as if the opposition is trying to set fire to your underwear (even if your staffers claim they can't detect heartbeats in your opponent(s)).
