Well, there goes the biosphere [View all]

Anyone who had any hope that we, as a nation who likes to boast about our superiority in science and education, would clean up our collective act can kiss that idea goodbye.

And we can kiss our own (and the rest of all air/water reliant beings') asses goodbye. If anyone thinks we, as a nation, have any chance of saving ourselves from our wanton disregard for the biosphere which supports our existence, this election has proven we don't really give a rat's ass about our own sorry asses (or that of anyone else).

Unless there is some major infrastructure destroying catastrophe that some of us survive before the biosphere is toast, our species is in for some big trouble. I suspect we are in for a lot more trouble than any of us have bargained for. With our distractions keeping us from looking around and seeing how destructive our way of life has become and that we could have each personally done something to change it... and we have no one but ourselves to blame.

So brace yourselves for the gloom and doom of losing your habitat, like most other species have been facing for quite a while now, because we're next on the menu. Disease, lack of shelter from horribly intense storms, nutritious food, clean air, clean water... forget the lack of jobs, those won't matter much after a while either - aside from the fact that they are killing us as we trade our safety and well-being for instant gratification. Might be long, slow and painful for most of us but we are about to reap what we have sown, and it won't be a positive shift.

This election is proof that we are screwn and it's probably not going to be long before the signs of what this all means become glaringly obvious.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but this is my first thought about what this election means.

Discuss, but no punching, kicking or biting... it's time we did something else, like really think intelligently about this without pointing fingers, weenie waving or being mean.
