I am saddened and have not felt this badly about an election's outcome since 2000 and 2004. I was personally devastated following both of those as they impacted my safety and well-being both physically and emotionally. This past summer was the first time, since the 1990s, that I had a reasonably decent job that paid a living wage albeit as a seasonal worker. Since it was a federal post, I wonder if there will be such opportunity next year even though I had a favorable rating at my exit review and was told I had a good chance for returning... pending funding would be the operative caveat on that.

Now I feel sick. I guess the fact that I have to make a 2800 mile trip this next week will ease some of the sting but only temporarily. I haven't been out for a long drive in years, I hope it's therapeutic enough to hold off depression. I used to drive for a living, I used to like to drive. It will give me time to reflect on all this. If it weren't a necessary journey, I wouldn't burn the gas.

One more shot of Scotch then off to bed. Single malt, it's for special occasions, even if they are bummer type special occasions.
