There is one thing I will blame Obama for concerning tonite's results & it's not the usual... [View all]
It was when he promised to do something on Immigration reform at the end of the summer - but didn't. He was talked out of it by a handful of Dem Senators who were up for re-election. (oops)
I live in Arizona. When I heard him say that he was going to wait until after the election my stomach sank.
In 2008. 2010, 2012 there was such a huge GOTV effort here by the Latino Population for Dem candidates. Think SB1070.
There was voter suppression in the form of golly gee we ran out of ballots in heavily Latino / Dem leaning districts.
This year that GOTV effort wasn't there. I stay involved in local politics and that part of the population was pretty silent.
Would it have made a difference in who won the Governor tonite in Arizona? Probably not. The Kochs were very busy with this election. The tbag probably still would have won, but not by such a large margin. And this is Arizona.
And the down ballot races? Yes, these could have been effected.
But that's just Arizona. Let's talk about Colorado. The Latino Population in Colorado is over 1 million.
The Latino Population in Illinois is over 2 million. Florida? 4.3 million.
Think about it. We were warned. The Latino voters may stay home. They were done with the GOP but FED UP with the Dems. Too many promises broken.
I'm sure we'll hear more about this from people like Jose Diaz-Ballart and Maria Teresa Kumar.
But I don't think you can deny that delaying Immigration Reform may have hurt the Dems in this election.

How interesting - as I post this, Jose is on Msnbc saying the same thing......
