Hatred for minorities, secret contempt for the homeless, and a foundation of hate for the social programs that aid the downtrodden. Looking down on people who are without means is the only thing that makes some people feel like they're middle class, and the more beneath them the better they feel. The fact is, they're only two or three paychecks away from welfare themselves.
What I call "Barstool Republicans" are frustrated that they go to work sixty hours a week in a dead end low paying job and see the idle living in an apartment, driving a car, and eating every day. They see their lives as no better for all the effort.
If the lowly targets of those Barstool Republicans would show up at the polls, things would change. Unfortunately they represent the smallest bloc of American voters. There's a myriad of reasons they don't vote, but the fact remains.
