What people who think it's all about party loyalty and losses should be blamed on voters don't get is the process isn't all about party loyalty and voting for the team.
What politicians who push neo-liberal corporatist don't get that many people recognize that being a pro neo-liberal corporatist dem precludes being able to be FOR social spending.
Politicians who do that repeatedly turn out to be unable to deliver what they promise. Just like Mary Burke, the dem who lost to Walker. One of her last sets of school board votes involved voting FOR raises to salaries of school employees, BUT then votng against the increase in taxation that would make those raises possible.
The assumption that the base will vote for anyone because the base hasn't any other place to go, is deliberately suspending belief in reality. Voters faced with no other place to go on election day can just stay home.
