30. For a lot of voters, yes, age is a factor.

There were comments about Reagan's age (he was 69 when inaugurated, the oldest ever). How many people on DU referred to McCain as "Gramps" because he would have been 72 when inaugurated? People here have also mentioned age in connection with Biden (will be 74 next Inauguration Day) and Sanders (will be 75). Brown will be 78, so you can be sure the subject would come up if he ran.

I'm not sure Maher's right about the "only in America" part, though. If a septuagenarian ran for the top job in other industrialized democracies, would age go unmentioned? I don't know enough about other countries' political cultures to say for sure, but I'm dubious.
