What you notice now, after a few months, is that the initial purpose of Discussionist has not only been tossed in the trash, but completely torched and rendered to cinders.

I think the creators envisioned a reasonable debate between DUers and Eisenhower conservatives.

They got Randians, Austrian School crackpots, circular-argument-tossing libertarians and troglodytes who crawled out of a sewer instead.

However, the people who I super-cannot-stand on that site aren't really the low-info troglodytes . . . you can easily step over those trolls like common dogshit.

No, the worst are the economically tin-eared Dunning-Krugertarians (like banned troll kctim) and the few Austrian-school loving anarcho-Trapitalists like Nixons_Ghost.

One perusal of their long-winded, logical fallacy-laced tripe makes you perform double takes. Even worse than that are those who subscribe to the idea that privatizing everything and abolishing government are the greatest thing that can happen to America, to the extent of getting rid of usury laws, making every road a toll road and having citizens handle law enforcement.

Further reading on these people reveals them to be subscribers to many facets of hyper-right wing extremism, like global warming denial, anti vaxx, goldbuggery and MRA. They even Gish-Gallop in their exchanges, essay-trading so many batshit statements at once that it just collapses into a futile exhaustion.

Discussionist is not only a house of the low-info, it's a house for cognitive dissonance at it's worst.
