and all other branches of our armed forces.

I was watching old episodes of Anthony Bourdain on Netflix the other day. They were filming in Beirut, and everything went to Hell while they were there. Someone got assassinated and the Israeli Air Force starting bombing the Hell out of everything. Bourdain and crew had to be evacuated, along with other foreign nationals, by the Marines. It was an interesting show to watch. Tony was very impressed by the Marines, who not only did their jobs flawlessly, but also went out of their way to interact with the civilians in such a way as to make them feel more comfortable and safe under, what had to be, very stressful conditions.

I don't worship the military or military culture. I never served, nor did I have more than a fleeting sliver of interest in the armed forces. But it's an important job that needs to be done.
