(24,636 posts)or early '90s. The problem was, none of the products were American made. That was when we still had a media willing to expose fraud. They had a reporter go undercover to one of Wal-Mart's suppliers in Indonesia or someplace. The owner of the factory told the reporter, who had a hat cam, that he would put a label in the product saying it was made wherever the buyer wanted. There were child workers living in the factory that were paying a large amount of the measly pittance they were being paid back to the factory for room and board. I have never set foot in a Wal-Mart since then and was only in a store once before that and didn't buy anything. I have never been to a protest, but I will be carrying a sign at the Roseville, MI store tomorrow at 4:30 pm EST. I hope there is no tear gas. I hate tear gas.
