Societal expectations are that men approach women and initiate a conversation. If a man is inept at doing so, he is ridiculed by both men and women. A shy woman has less pressure on her to overcome her shyness than does a man.

"And men ought to be told to lose weight on the same terms as women. "

Okay, in essence, you agree with me that both sexes have expectations placed on them. Thank you.
