The Contiguous U.S. (Lower 48) had the coldest November-December period on record in 2000.

Here is a map from NASA GISS showing the global temperature anomalies (anomalies relative to 1951-1980) for November 2000.

Also, the coldest November in the 120 year record for the Contiguous U.S. was 1911.
