The problem with being black is that no matter how highly placed on the corporate, military or academic ladder you are, you're automatically shunted into the "poor, underclass, welfare queen" trope by bigots.
It's getting that way for white folks who are overweight and dress in what they can afford, leisure wear from Walmart and business attire from J.C. Penney or Men's Warehouse. If they can't afford a chef and personal trainer, they must be poor and lazy.
More and more, we're not being given the middle class benefit of the doubt. Soon, we'll be that two class society the Koch boys dream about, a tiny overclass with their bullies to keep us in line, and a vast underclass of desperate people without enough to live on and only hazy memories that it used to be better.
